This work represents The Bee, a restaurant located on the Cycladic island of Folegandros. It echoes a series of nocturnal watercolors representing the village of my grandparents in Portugal. Although very distant geographically, Portugal and Greece have many similarities, starting with the strong religious imprint in everyday life. The religious is everywhere, it floats in the air a kind of mystery.

Here time is suspended, clinging to the conversation that links the two protagonists. The upper part of the painting is occupied by an imposing bougainvillea which contributes to the magical atmosphere of the whole. The play of light and texture that structures the shrub creates a warm and imaginary sky. This sky forms a chromatic unit with the lower part of the table which represents the earth but this one stands out nevertheless by the sobriety of its representation. The floor is stripped of superfluous patterns, the two tables located on either side of the table are empty. The restaurant ceases to be a festive place and turns into a place of meditation. What can they say to each other? What if the subject of the conversation was nothing but happiness? There is no other human life on this scene therefore the flowers which are in the windows are animated by the soft light which illuminates them. In the middle of the night, nature is enchanted. And in this ocean of happiness rests, peaceful, the little cat that can be seen in the kitchen.
