Laurus Azorica
Laurus Azorica, or Azores laurel, is one of the species constituting the primitive laurel forests of the Azores. Here this watercolour is an evocation of Azorean nature, effervescent, colourful, contrasting, singing. The chaotic composition reveals a succession of planes materialized by contrasts between sharp and blurred areas. The scene is also structured by a diagonal that connects the lower left corner to the upper right corner. The left part is darker, it is marked by a laurel tree in the background, in the darkness. The right part of the painting is brighter and has a greater depth of field.
